NAMPA DENTIST TO BUY BACK HALLOWEEN CANDY

Dr. Kevin Kizer from Children's Dentistry in Nampa is not anti-Halloween, he's just pro-moderation and anti-tooth-decay.

 

Children's Dentistry, which is located just down the street from Mercy Medical Center at 349 West Iowa Avenue, plans to hold its second annual Halloween Candy Buy Back event on November 2nd, the Monday after the holiday. This kids-only dental clinic is offering to buy Halloween candy from trick-or-treaters at $1 per pound ($10 maximum).

 

This idea, said Dr. Kizer, who has two children, is to let them have a little candy they like, then get rid of the rest, instead of munching on leftover candy for days and weeks after Halloween.  All of that extra candy is bad for their dental and general health.

 

The candy collected will be donated to Operation Gratitude, an organization that provides holiday baskets to troops serving overseas.  Your old beanie baby collections can save the lives of our heroes!

Please donate them to our cause--they will be priceless.

Letter to Operation Gratitude from a Marine:
"I live with 17 Marines and Sailors in one room. Everyone got a package and everyone loved it especially the candy and beanie babies. The candy and the beanie babies help us out a lot with the local kids. We give them candy and toys and they give us the location for IED's. Once again, thank you for everything and for all the hard work that you put into the package. LCPL ND" 

Last year, during the inaugural event, Children's Dentistry collected over 440 pounds of Halloween candy.  The candy buy-back program is being done in conjunction with about 1,300 other dentists across the nation.

 

Each child will receive a light saber toothbrush and a coupon to a local restaurant.  Drawings for parents:  iPod, coupons to local restaurants and more!

 

Each child is encouraged to write a personal note to the troops.
