The amount of cavities in our country is on the rise, and so is the consumption of sugar. They go together! So here are Two 2's that can help to lower the risk of getting cavities.
The first one is obvious, but the second may surprise you.
- Two good cleanings each day. One of these should include flossing. Get the plaque off the teeth a couple of times a day!
- Allow at least two hours between meals and snacks without putting anything (except water) in your mouth. This allows several uninterrupted times throughout the day for your teeth to heal and mineralize. I cannot tell you just how important this second Two is!
These Two 2's will definitely help lower cavity risk, and if everyone did them, I am confident there would be many fewer cavities in the world today. Of course, they are not the entire solution to the problem, but they represent a great start to a cavity-free lifestyle.
